The Shandar Smith Foundation was founded on March 24th 2002. The Foundation was established to provide Internet Cameras to children with Cancer and the support organisations of those children.
As the idea of what the Foundation was being established for was spread amongst support organisations, kids with Cancer and the Mums and Dads, it was apparent that there was a greater need than just for those with " The Big C ! " Kids with paralysis, those who have lost limbs, in fact dozens of other afflictions all have a need to talk with someone - maybe someone who has been through something similar and can talk on their level. The Internet is the medium and Internet cameras will put a face to the name and a friendly smile at the other end of the line.
